Valentine's day. Some love it. Some hate it. Some are apathetic about it. Some boycott it. Because, who needs a silly day with an emphasis on love when we should be showing love to the people in our lives every day of the year? Some see it as another big consumerism holiday and refuse to take part. Some feel it highlights & excludes those who are single. Any of these things sound familiar? I've heard them all.
I suppose all of the above can be true.
But, what if we looked at it differently?
What if we look at today as a reminder. A reminder to love on all people in our lives. To show love, spread love & be kind to one another. It doesn't have to be extravagant, you don't have to spend a lot of money, just do something small. Do what you can.
Little, every day things. That's where it's at.
Not just for the people we know, but to the people we encounter daily.
All I know is that the world can be hectic and crazy. Things are somewhat unpredictable and sometimes scary. A lot of things are out of our control. What is in our control? The choice to love. To be kind. To respect the other human beings we come in contact with.
Let's let today be a reminder of that. Spread the love. No, not just today. But, let's let today spark in us an impulse to keep on loving others. To continue to be kind. And let's remind those close to us that we appreciate them & love them. Because, sometimes, we get busy & life proceeds & we can take those around us for granted.
So, here's that nudge.
A little love goes a long way.
