Trail Mix

We've been trying to snack a little better in our home and in an attempt to do so, I threw together this trail mix. I'm not saying it's 100% healthy, but it's definitely a healthier choice when I'm feeling munchie and wanting to eat something.  

Since I've made it a few times already, and each time we've ate it right up, I thought it might be worth sharing. 

Trail Mix

In a bowl, mix together the following:

- 1/4 cup raw pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 cup raw almonds
- 1 cup raw walnuts
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup coconut chips (I used President's Choice roasted, sweetened & lightly salted ones. They're SO good!)
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate bites acai & blueberry flavours (Brookside brand)

Once mixed together transfer into an airtight container for storage.
Seriously, a tasty thing to snack on.

I think what I like most about making your own trail mix is you can control what's in it and put only things you like. Plus, I used raw nuts & raw pumpkin seeds, so they didn't have any salt. Because really, do I need that extra salt (that tends to be in packaged trail mix)? No. And they taste great without. The coconut chips, raisins & dark chocolate bites add some sweet. Because, I do need a little sweet sometimes. Remember, up top I mentioned it wasn't 100% healthy! That being said, there's not too much added so I find it's just the right amount when I'm craving something sweet. 

If you've never made your own trail mix before I'd definitely recommend it. It's a great snack, easy to make, and you can cater to your likes/dislikes.
