The Summer List

Summer is finally here, and everyone who has experienced 2020 so far (#pandemiclife) is giving a great big sigh of relief. Sort of. None of us know how this whole pandemic thing is going to continue on, but I do know so many of us are looking forward to a new season for various reasons. And, here's the thing, summers go quick. Too quick. I kind of think making a bucket list is too much pressure, especially when you have little kids! Ha! However, I like the idea of a making a list of summer options. Ideas/things we can do this summer (if we want) and not necessarily "check off" per say.

This summer is more than likely going to play out a bit differently than others since we're still somewhat in pandemic mode. Restrictions are slowing lifting where we live, so that is great news; and we actually just found out we'll at least be able to see some of our family at some point this summer. So that's something to celebrate!

I'm sure I'm missing some things, but for now these are the options I've written down for our family to do this summer. The great thing is that the majority of these things are FREE or have minimal (or as much) cost as you wish.

  • Boardwalk & Exploring Downtown (maybe take the ferry)
  • Farmers Market(s)
  • Splash Pad
  • Park/Playground
  • Beach Days
  • Library (rainy days)
  • Ice Cream
  • Public Gardens
  • Wildlife Park/Zoo
  • Biking
  • BBQs/Dinners with Friends
  • Picnic in the yard/on the deck/at the park
  • Yard Play - bubbles, chalk, water table, sprinkler, outside toys!
  • Bonfires
  • Morning walks (sometimes the kids just go in their pjs if it's early & they think this is fun)
  • Day trips around the province
  • Lighthouse visit
Again, some of the above might not be possible this summer because of COVID and certain restrictions. But, writing out summer options for the days when I feel like I can't think of anything to do with the kids solo or when we're needing a family activity will be helpful. We're definitely wanting to make the most of our summer!

I'd love to hear what you're up to this summer. Especially if you're stuck at home!
